Yuzu (Japanese Citrus)
Yuzu is a Japanese citrus fruit that is sour and looks like a small grapefruit. It’s not eaten as a fruit (mostly I think) but is used a lot in Japanese dishes as garnish, seasoning or flavor.
That said, it actually was a no-brainer that the Kit Kat guys will eventually use this flavor. I mean they even tried soy sauce, right? So here we are! With this Kit Kat flavor LOL!
The yuzu flavored Kit Kat actually is about the same as the ol’ Kit Kat. Brown chocolate coating with wafer in the middle. However, yuzu cream filling is used instead so you could taste the yuzu when you bite down. The taste is not so strong and not too sour either. Just enough to blend with the chocolate.
Though I haven’t really tasted the yuzu in the chocolate, I can smell it. So I’m not really sure if the chocolate is only chocolate or if the yuzu flavor (in the chocolate) was overpowered by the yuzu cream.
Not familiar with yuzu? If you’ve eaten chocolate with orange, it probably tastes like that only a little less sweet and a little less strong. I’ve eaten Kit Kat orange before and that’s really different from this one. I think you’d really appreciate how they made everything work together with this one.

Update: It says in the website that the yuzu used were from Umajimura of the Kochi prefecture (高知県馬路村), a town famous for its yuzu fruits.

Cherry Fruit Flavor
I had to clarify that I am referring to the fruit and not the blossom. ‘Cause here in Japan, when you say cherry… it often means the flower. Especially this time of the year, cherry blossoms a-blooming.
This one is submitted by a dear friend Happytweepop. She doesn’t like to blog so I’ll be writing down whatever she said to me about this Kitkat hehe. Hope I do her justice.
This Kit Kat really brings the flavor of the cherry and not just because it’s sweet. Well, it’s still sweet (but aren’t they all LOL). Cherry can be tasted from both the filling and the chocolate (if it is chocolate hehehe).
Buying this will give you a pass to download your 3 tunes from a new artist 「スルーザブレイク」 (pronounced Through the Break). Kinda fitting. No wonder Kit Kat’s promoting them.

Share-with-a-Friend Lemon Flavor
I’ll start with the taste. It’s sweet (like what else is new) with a hint of lemon but not sour at all. This is one of the plainer ones and probably had come out a couple of times before.
In Japan, the 4 Kit Kat bars in a box is actually packed into 2 packs each with 2 bars in it. This one’s released before Valentine’s Day so you’re actually meant to share this one. You eat 1 pack in the box then remake the box for the remaining 2 bars and write a note inside the flap. Instructions are written at the back of the box (image 2). Voila! Instant gift.
Now, I wonder if giving lemon-flavored Kit Kat is actually a gift or a gag. What those Kit Kat guys are thinking will always remain a mystery to me.

Coffee Spring Pack
Spring is officially here in Japan.
Nestle came with these nifty coffee and Kit Kat packs:
- Orange and caramel latte - the one with the orange pack (duh)
- Green tea latte - the one with the green pack (in case you didn’t get it, lol)
- Cafe latte - the rightmost one
- 3 packs of strawberry flavored Kit Kat
The Kit Kats here are nothing special. Tastes like all the other strawberry flavored Kit Kat that had ever come out. Oh, and if you still don’t know that, well they taste like… uhhh.. strawberries. Like pink milk but a bit sweeter but not as sweet as strawberry candy. (Huwaaaattt?)
Well, it’s not a sweet as I’d expect. (Still a bit vague huh?)
