Kit Kat Jar Part 2: with Caramel Pudding
I happened upon this while looking for water in a vending machine. Like part 1, the jar is made of glass and seems to be the same size as that of one-cup sakes (180ml). Must be recycled LOL! The jar is actually cheap and can even be brought from 100yen shops for as low as 96 yen. I got mine from the vending machine for just a 100yen. It contains 4 packs of kit kat, 2 of the classic and 2 of the...

Winter Mild Bitter
Nothing really “winter” about it. LOL! Just came out during winter. Heh. The chocolate was good. Not sweet like usual and not very bitter at all. The cream I couldn’t really taste because it was overwhelmed by the chocolate. One of the better ones I suppose. But maybe because it wasn’t so strange. LOL! Get it while you can!

Ground Red Pepper Flavored Kit Kat
Japanese text: 根元 八幡屋磯五郎 一味 大辛 Still the same chocolatey goodness but with a HOT filling that will definitely linger in your tongue. The chocolate will cancel a bit of the spiciness, so you don’t need to have water prepared. Burning in your throat will be felt afterward. Definitely the most surprising kit kat of them all. (Well next to soy sauce.) The leftside text means Original...

Alive again!
And here I am asking for your forgiveness. I have been away in every aspect of my being. Hopefully you can accept me back in your reading life as I once again fill this site with all the kit kats that I find. (^_^;) Given that I’ve been gone, I was still hoarding every new kit kat I see. My fridge is actually half-filled with them. Summer has melted some of them though, but I’m sure...

The Kit Kat Jar
Tadaaa! It’s a Kit Kat Jar. Not exactly a kit kat flavor but still worth posting about. As you know, vending machines are one of the things that makes Japan, well, Japan. You can get everything from them (yes, I do mean everything). From drinks, food, cigars and up to something as bizarre as dirty girl’s underwear (yes look it up). So here, they found a way to dispense kit kat from a...

Salt Flavored White Chocolate
Yes you read that right! Salt flavored white chocolate. As it says in the box, this one is made with rock salt from Lorraine, France. Lorraine is apparently known for its inland salt spring and salt mining. So… well you got me. This is one of the flavors I haven’t tasted yet but considering how a success soy sauce flavor was I guess they can probably make this one a success too....

Rose Scent Flavor
Another post from my friend Meimei. She likes writing. Good for me! LOL! (That and I couldn’t find that Kit Kat Rose anywhere. Not in any convenience stores nor groceries. Argh!) I am not sure if the development of this variant was delayed for well-suited Valentine season, but this Kit Kat Rose was released recently. It’s included in the a bag (as shown in the image) with 10 original...

Yuzu (Japanese Citrus)
Yuzu is a Japanese citrus fruit that is sour and looks like a small grapefruit. It’s not eaten as a fruit (mostly I think) but is used a lot in Japanese dishes as garnish, seasoning or flavor. That said, it actually was a no-brainer that the Kit Kat guys will eventually use this flavor. I mean they even tried soy sauce, right? So here we are! With this Kit Kat flavor LOL! The yuzu...

Cookies Plus (with Oatmeal Cookies)
A guest post by my dear friend Meimei. She’s an artistic friend who thinks she’s stuck in the logical world of computers. LOL! She’s into photography and is currently single, kidding! Master Kitkat Blogger is on a little break so I’m taking her floor temporarily. LOL. I’ll be introducing you to this unique Kitkat flavor only available in Japan. I don’t have a...

Soy Sauce
Another guest post! Whoo! I’m on a roll. This one is by Potpot. Potpot is a fellow blogger who likes blogging about his life and makes up a lot of short funny stories. Sad thing that most of his blogs are in Filipino. But hey if you can understand Filipino and love stories, take a peek. You’ll definitely enjoy as I’ve enjoyed this entry. Thank you Meema for making me a guest in...

Tiramisu and Green Tea Tiramisu
Woot! My first ever guest post (well, actually a repost but I’m still happy). So here a friend talks about her adventures with 2 Kit Kat flavors, both released Feb 2, 2009. I will put English terms beside the Filipino ones don’t worry. Heehee. I spied these new Kit Kat flavors in the local 7-11 early this week. I so love the quirky seasonal flavors that Kit Kat always comes up...

Cherry Fruit Flavor
I had to clarify that I am referring to the fruit and not the blossom. ‘Cause here in Japan, when you say cherry… it often means the flower. Especially this time of the year, cherry blossoms a-blooming. This one is submitted by a dear friend Happytweepop. She doesn’t like to blog so I’ll be writing down whatever she said to me about this Kitkat hehe. Hope I do her...

Chocolate Ice Cream Cone
Okay fine. So it’s not a Kit Kat flavor. It’s a Kit Kat ummm… product anyway. They’re two of these actually. Chocolate ice cream and vanilla ice cream. Both are coated in chocolate, topped with peanuts and wrapped inside a chocolate-tipped wafer cone. Sounds ordinary right? Well the surprise comes when you take a bite off the top of the ice cream. A stick of kit kat is...

Melt-in-your-Mouth Cacao / Chocolate
Took me awhile to realize that 口どけ was not actually ro-do-ke but guchi-do-ke. Argh! Good thing I’m not all good with Japanese (if that is a good thing) and tried if do-ke means dark (yeah right). Well as long as I got it in the end. It’s a shame I didn’t get to taste this one last year. Given the reviews I’ve read on this, it is oh so so so so good and true to its name....

White
A bit of a break from the exotic flavors. What should be a regular flavor in chocolate is not exactly a regular flavor in the Breaktown world. Well, not in Japan. White kit kat comes in and out like tides during seasons here in Japan. This one appears probably as frequently as the strawberry flavored ones. And like the strawberry ones, it comes in different designs. Is the white kit kat a...

Japanese Red Bean Soup
Oshiruko (お汁粉) or just shiruko is a traditional Japanese dessert from boiled azuki beans with rice flour dumplings. It’s one of the better traditional desserts I’ve tasted in Japan among its huge choices of azuki bean desserts. I really have no idea what’s with these azuki beans and Japanese (and Chinese… and Koreans). They’re like all over the place. Having a...

Lemon Cheesecake Mix
仕立て actually means preparation or tailoring so I’ll be assuming that this refers to the lemon cheesecake mix. LOL! Though I’m not sure that the Kit Kat committee would actually make a flavor from an unbaked cheesecake state. In the previous blog, I thought 仕立て actually referred to the sauce. So until I know better that’s going to be the title. Hmmmm… Must ask a native. ...

Pudding Sauce Flavor
Must be a sign that Kit Kat’s flavor committee was actually running out of ideas. Released a year ago around March 2008 (yep custard pudding season, same with the previous entry). Fried Toast said that it tastes very sweet. Then again, most Kit Kat’s do. Even the original Kit Kat can be too sweet for some people. Only this one’s flavored after a flavor that’s mostly made...

Custard Pudding Flavor
Custard pudding flavored anything is springing up everywhere here like daisies in spring because it’s spring (Huwat?). Though I’m not really sure why pudding’s are connected with spring. They’re just here. I don’t know how pudding tastes in other countries but here in Japan, it has like almost no taste. It’s my first time to eat pudding so I can’t...

Jasmine Tea
This is one of the latest as of this date. Just before the release of prin flavor which is very popular at Spring. I could definitely taste tea in there, but just tea. I couldn’t really tell if it’s Jasmine or not. Well, I’ll leave it for the tea experts if they could detect the Jasmine-ness of this tea-flavored wonder. Photo by me

Uji Green Tea
Uji green tea is one of the finer green teas here in Japan. But as foreigner who’s not all for tea, I probably couldn’t tell the difference or even bother to learn extensively the refinement of green tea. Could be expensive too. You know, buying refined green tea, just for trying it out. Yeeep. (I might be sticking to cheap dirt green tea. The one they gave out freely when...

Share-with-a-Friend Lemon Flavor
I’ll start with the taste. It’s sweet (like what else is new) with a hint of lemon but not sour at all. This is one of the plainer ones and probably had come out a couple of times before. In Japan, the 4 Kit Kat bars in a box is actually packed into 2 packs each with 2 bars in it. This one’s released before Valentine’s Day so you’re actually meant to share this...

Cookies Plus (with Chocolate Crisp Cookies)
Kit Kat with a layer of cookie with the wafer inside. It was good actually. Kinda like the normal Kit Kat but crunchier with a darker taste of Oreo cookies. This one came out fall of 2008. I hope this bring this one out more often. Photo from Fried Toast’s Kit Kat’s photo collection

Nasu-Kogen Milk White
Kit kat with white chocolate coat made from cows of Nasu-Kogen. Well not from cows… you know, milk! Milk from Nasu-Kogen cows. Nasu-Kogen is a place in Tochigi-ken. It’s known for the Nasu-Kogen beer like the Nasu-Kogen Nine-Tailed Fox (is that you Naruto?), so it took me awhile if milk from Nasu-Kogen is popular. I get several search page results of beer, beer, beer. LOL! I...

Blueberry Cheesecake
Cheesecake flavored chocolate with blueberry fillings in the wafer. Succulent blueberry cheesecake right at your fingertips. Or so what Kit Kat website says. The Kit Kat...

University Potato

Daigaku Imo, which means University Potato, are candies sweet potatoes, a sweet and slightly savory snack that is often served at university festivals in Tokyo. - Just Hungry It’s actually made from sweet potato. I can’t say if it...

Salt and Caramel
To start off with this bizarre blog of bizarre kit kat, I give you one that baffled me to my brain’s core. Yup that’s a salt and caramel kit kat. I’m still trying to figure this one out ‘coz I haven’t tasted it. I heard about the Salt Caramel Macchiato from Starbucks which is actually good, so maybe I should take this one with a grain of.. uhh.. salt. Photo from...

Hi! As you’ve come to this blog, you’re probably looking for some kit kats. All types of Kit kats ranging from simple out of this world to just plain disgusting ones. I started this blog just to give you just that. Fried Toast has been taking pictures of kit kat for a while and I have been eating most of what I’ve seen. Some are good. Some taste alike. And some I don’t...
