Kit Kat Jar Part 2: with Caramel Pudding

I happened upon this while looking for water in a vending machine. Like part 1, the jar is made of glass and seems to be the same size as that of one-cup sakes (180ml). Must be recycled LOL!

The jar is actually cheap and can even be brought from 100yen shops for as low as 96 yen. I got mine from the vending machine for just a 100yen. It contains 4 packs of kit kat, 2 of the classic and 2 of the caramel pudding flavor. A pack contains a pair of kit kat sticks. Really cheap!

It was released October 2008 for Halloween I think. As you can see, the caramel pudding wrapper has some quote written as said by a certain person.

Do not give up! Don’t let your dreams to end!

Not very Halloween of you ask me.

    Winter Mild Bitter

Nothing really “winter” about it. LOL! Just came out during winter. Heh.

The chocolate was good. Not sweet like usual and not very bitter at all. The cream I couldn’t really taste because it was overwhelmed by the chocolate.

One of the better ones I suppose. But maybe because it wasn’t so strange. LOL!

    Get it while you can!

Ground Red Pepper Flavored Kit Kat

Japanese text: 根元 八幡屋磯五郎 一味 大辛

Still the same chocolatey goodness but with a HOT filling that will definitely linger in your tongue. The chocolate will cancel a bit of the spiciness, so you don’t need to have water prepared. Burning in your throat will be felt afterward. Definitely the most surprising kit kat of them all. (Well next to soy sauce.)

The leftside text means Original Yawataya Isogorou which is a brand that manufactures spices and condiments since the Edo era. They are one of the top makers of spices in Japan.

The rightside text gives the flavor (and also the product name or the name of the spice). It means very spicy, one flavor. One flavor spice means it’s a mixture (if you’d call it that) with only one ingredient, the red pepper. You can view the product page here.

In Japan, they produce the seven flavor spice or shichimi which is a mixture of seven spices. The brand is very known for its shichimi. It may also be the reason why they call the red pepper spice mixture, the one flavor spice. Heh.

This Kit Kat flavor can only be found in Nagano where the brand is based.

    Alive again!

And here I am asking for your forgiveness. I have been away in every aspect of my being. Hopefully you can accept me back in your reading life as I once again fill this site with all the kit kats that I find. (^_^;)

Given that I’ve been gone, I was still hoarding every new kit kat I see. My fridge is actually half-filled with them. Summer has melted some of them though, but I’m sure the flavors the same. LOL!

    Updates!

    • Well as you can see, I have moved from a self-hosted Wordpress to Tumblr. Wordpress is a little hard to upkeep for a blog that’s really very simple. This way too I can upload pictures way easier than before. If you sometime encounter errors such as site being unavailable. Please give it some time. Tumblr says it’s still propagating through the web.

    • No worries though. My feed is still using the same URL as I’m using FeedBurner. If you’re still subscribed to KitKatFlavors, you’ll get updates as I post here.

    • You can now submit your own posts through this website or by mail. See the right side of this site. I’d appreciate it more if you create a photo post so that the site would have its own copy of the picture. ^_^

Ja! Have a great day! Have a break, have a Kit Kat. ^o^

    The Kit Kat Jar

Tadaaa! It’s a Kit Kat Jar. Not exactly a kit kat flavor but still worth posting about.

As you know, vending machines are one of the things that makes Japan, well, Japan. You can get everything from them (yes, I do mean everything). From drinks, food, cigars and up to something as bizarre as dirty girl’s underwear (yes look it up).

So here, they found a way to dispense kit kat from a vending machine for all to eat: The Kit Kat Jar

    The Kit Kat Jar

Contains 4 individually wrapped kit kat. No need to go to the convenience store or grocery or wherever when you need to. Just go to the nearest vending machine (and… hopefully it has one). I’ve seen one, and I really thought it was a kit kat drink. ^^

Bad news though is it just comes in its original flavor. Still, given the option is good enough.

    Salt Flavored White Chocolate

    Salt Flavored White Chocolate

Yes you read that right! Salt flavored white chocolate. As it says in the box, this one is made with rock salt from Lorraine, France. Lorraine is apparently known for its inland salt spring and salt mining.

So… well you got me. This is one of the flavors I haven’t tasted yet but considering how a success soy sauce flavor was I guess they can probably make this one a success too. Although I still don’t know what’s so special about Lorraine salt. I’ve read somewhere that it’s salty but not too salty. Hmmm must be like the soy sauce one then.

    Rose Scent Flavor

Another post from my friend Meimei. She likes writing. Good for me! LOL! (That and I couldn’t find that Kit Kat Rose anywhere. Not in any convenience stores nor groceries. Argh!)

    Rose Scent Flavor

I am not sure if the development of this variant was delayed for well-suited Valentine season, but this Kit Kat Rose was released recently. It’s included in the a bag (as shown in the image) with 10 original mini kitkat bars and only a disappointing 4 mini rose bars. I had to save the other 3 bars for later consumption after eating the first bar for my test taste report. LOL!

I have never tasted rose and never thought it was edible enough to produce a taste that would go with any food, that is why I was really curious how this would feel like (emphasis on feel). At first bite though, you wouldn’t taste anything weird, in fact it tasted too much like that of the original bar. Don’t be disappointed though, the real effect of the ROSE comes a few seconds after that bite. It’s though I inhaled perfume, rose scented. LOL! This effect, as translated literally from the package, is called a scent flavor, which may explain the delayed reaction.

According to the site, the rose Kit Kat was made for the consumer to relax during its Kit Kat indulgence. However, for me, relaxing was not the word that came to my mind when I ate a bar of that rose Kit Kat. Maybe I’m just not used to put anything flowery into my mouth. LOL! But I guess it’s still fun eating it.

    Yuzu (Japanese Citrus)

    Yuzu (Japanese Citrus)Yuzu (Japanese Citrus)

Yuzu is a Japanese citrus fruit that is sour and looks like a small grapefruit. It’s not eaten as a fruit (mostly I think) but is used a lot in Japanese dishes as garnish, seasoning or flavor.

That said, it actually was a no-brainer that the Kit Kat guys will eventually use this flavor. I mean they even tried soy sauce, right? So here we are! With this Kit Kat flavor LOL!

The yuzu flavored Kit Kat actually is about the same as the ol’ Kit Kat. Brown chocolate coating with wafer in the middle. However, yuzu cream filling is used instead so you could taste the yuzu when you bite down. The taste is not so strong and not too sour either. Just enough to blend with the chocolate.

Though I haven’t really tasted the yuzu in the chocolate, I can smell it. So I’m not really sure if the chocolate is only chocolate or if the yuzu flavor (in the chocolate) was overpowered by the yuzu cream.

Not familiar with yuzu? If you’ve eaten chocolate with orange, it probably tastes like that only a little less sweet and a little less strong. I’ve eaten Kit Kat orange before and that’s really different from this one. I think you’d really appreciate how they made everything work together with this one.

If you’re curious about yuzu, you can check them out here from our 2nd best friend the Wikipedia (2nd only to Google ^^).

    Photos taken by me.

Update: It says in the website that the yuzu used were from Umajimura of the Kochi prefecture (高知県馬路村), a town famous for its yuzu fruits.

    Cookies Plus (with Oatmeal Cookies)

A guest post by my dear friend Meimei. She’s an artistic friend who thinks she’s stuck in the logical world of computers. LOL! She’s into photography and is currently single, kidding!

Cookies Plus (with Oatmeal Cookies)Master Kitkat Blogger is on a little break so I’m taking her floor temporarily. LOL. I’ll be introducing you to this unique Kitkat flavor only available in Japan.

I don’t have a sweet tooth. And I detest sweetness that can get all the way to my throat. Knowing Kitkat bars to have that effect on me, I was hesitant to taste the other kitkats out there, worried that I’ll have the same painful I experience with the overly sweet original Kitkat, well at least for my taste though. However, curiousity brought me to challenge myself having seen my friend’s addition over them.

Sorry for the lengthy intro and so I’ll now taking you to the real part. Let me introduce you to Kitkat’s cookie plus whole wheat, a better term maybe oatmeal cookie perhaps?

At first try, you’ll notice a tinge of bitterness which is probably brought by the whole grain infused within the chocolate wafer. You’ll also feel a litle of that wheat on every bite, minute only though. What was surprising too was, unlike the normal kitkat, that the bar isn’t too sweet, just enough for someone like me who doesn’t have a sweet tooth. The site even that it’s a healthy bar, with all the mineral, protein, and vitamins you need for a healthy snack. My final verdict, I can say that this is well made Kitkat variation. This can come smaller boxes of 2 bars and big boxes of 8 bars (the one in the picture is the 2 bar box).

    Soy Sauce

Another guest post! Whoo! I’m on a roll. This one is by Potpot. Potpot is a fellow blogger who likes blogging about his life and makes up a lot of short funny stories. Sad thing that most of his blogs are in Filipino. But hey if you can understand Filipino and love stories, take a peek. You’ll definitely enjoy as I’ve enjoyed this entry.

Thank you Meema for making me a guest in your kit kat blog… even though my English knowledge is likely compared to a ten year old.. I will try my best to communicate like an 11 year old.. so here goes…

When I hear the word kit kat, a chocolate flavored wafer bar comes into mind.. I salivate every time I mutter this word.. But when I was introduced to the different flavors of kit kat here in Japan.. My world collapsed..

Meema showed me one of her recent discoveries.. a “Soy Sauce Flavored kit kat” WTF?!?!!

    Soy Sauce
soy sauce flavored kit kat.. HUWAT?!!?!

I had goose bumps… the fact that you crossed a salty element with a sweet kit kat send chills up my spine…

But I have no chance of escape… she tied me up and forced me to eat the kit kat..

After opening the foil, you can distinguish the smell of the soy sauce… but with the first bite… the taste of the soy sauce blend nicely with the white chocolate bar…

Maybe I was a little intimidated because of the name… but it was really tasty and delicious… I should have slipped some packets of kit kat when I left Meema’s house.. It was divine, and maybe I can get used to tasting different kinds of kit kats…

    Hmmmm….

By the way, Potpot’s planning to make a Pringles flavors blog soon. I’ll post about it as soon as it’s up. ^^

    Thanks Pot! Love ya buddy!
